Με 132 συμμετοχές! Για όγδοη συνεχή χρονιά το Ιστορικό Ράλλυ Ακρόπολις αποδεικνύεται πόλος έλξης των φίλων του κλασικού ιστορικού αυτοκινήτου και του μηχανοκίνητου αθλητισμού. 132 αυτοκίνητα παραγωγής μέχρι το 1981 θα εκκινήσουν πανηγυρικά στον αγώνα μήκους 1.242 χλμ. κάτω από τον Ιερό Βράχο της Ακρόπολις την Πέμπτη 7 Μαΐου στις 18:00.

Παραδοσιακά, υψηλός ο αριθμός των συμμετοχών, με 54 αυτοκίνητα να κοσμούν την κατηγορία Sporting και άλλα 78 τη Regularity. Μεταξύ αυτών της πρώτης κατηγορίας, οι οποίοι θα αγωνιστούν «ενάντια στο χρονόμετρο», οι κυρίαρχοι του αγώνα τα τελευταία χρόνια, Bianchini Marco - Baldaccini Emanuele με τη μαύρη, πλέον, Lancia Stratos HF του 1975, καθώς και ο δεύτερος περυσινός νικητής, Brazzoli Enrico με Porsche 911 3.0 SC. Η… καρδιά της κατηγορίας θα είναι, όμως, και φέτος ελληνική, με τις μάχες να δίνονται στα βουνά από οδηγούς όπως είναι οι Κώστας Αποστόλου (Porsche 911S), Βασίλης Βελάνης (Ford Escort RS 1600), Μιχάλης Λυκάκης (Ford Escort RS 2000), Δημήτρης Βαζάκας (Toyota Corolla KE 3.0), Στέφανος Σπάρταλης (Ford Escort RS 1600) κ.ά.

Υψηλό αναμένεται το ενδιαφέρον και στην κατηγορία Regularity, όπου πληρώματα από την Ελλάδα, την Κύπρο, την Αυστρία, την Ιταλία, το Μονακό, τη Φινλανδία, τη Γαλλία και την Πολωνία θα αντιμετωπίσουν συνολικά 45 δοκιμασίες ακριβείας. Μεταξύ των συμμετεχόντων θα είναι οι Κύπριοι περυσινοί νικητές, Στέλιος Βανέζος- Κοτζαμάνης Γιώργος, οι οποίοι αυτήν τη χρονιά συμμετέχουν με μια Alfa Romeo Veloce του 1973, καθώς και οι πολύπειροι Έλληνες Ιάσων Φωτόπουλος (Alfa Romeo GT Veloce 2000) και Κωνσταντίνος Μητρόπουλος (Fiat 131 Abarth Rallye).

Το καθαρά αγωνιστικό μέρος θα ξεκινήσει το πρωί της Παρασκευής 8 Μαΐου, με το πρώτο αυτοκίνητο να παίρνει εκκίνηση στις 08:00 από το Ολυμπιακό Στάδιο, πριν από την ΕΔ Δεκέλεια, που θα ξεκινήσει στις 08:38. Υπενθυμίζεται ότι ο αγώνας διεξάγεται στην περιοχή της Στερεάς Ελλάδος με έδρα τα  Καμένα Βούρλα, και συγκεκριμένα το Ξενοδοχείο Γαλήνη, όπου θα λειτουργεί το Αρχηγείο του Αγώνα και το Γραφείο Τύπου.

Volkswagen in Formula 3. Four wins, two in England and two in Germany. Volkswagen make a perfect start to the Formula 3 season. Daniel Ricciardo (AUS) in the Dallara F308-Volkswagen entered by Carlin Motorsport won both races at Oulton Park in the British Formula 3 Championship, and in the opening round of the ATS Formula 3 Cup at Oschersleben the Volkswagen drivers Laurens Vanthoor (B) and Stef Dusseldorp (NL), team mates at Van Amersfoort Racing, shared the victory spoils in the presence of Hans Dieter Pötsch, Member of the Board of Volkswagen AG with responsibility for Finance and Controlling. “We are extremely pleased that the Formula 3 season started with such a fantastic series of wins for Volkswagen,” said Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen. “The teams and drivers worked outstandingly well this weekend, but also the team that develops and supports the Volkswagen engines. With this win behind us we are confident for the remainder of the season and will do everything within our powers to continue to supply good material for our partners who rely on Volkswagen engines.”

ATS Formula 3 Cup Germany. Vanthoor and Dusseldorp “powered by Volkswagen” win at Oschersleben. Two pole positions, two race victories and a pair of fastest laps: This is the excellent record for Volkswagen and Van Amersfoort Racing at the ATS Formula 3 Cup Germany season opener at Oschersleben. On Easter Sunday Laurens Vanthoor (B) claimed a motorsport “full house” with Volkswagen power in the back of his Dallara F307 chassis by winning from pole position and recording fastest lap in the process. Second place went to his team mate Stef Dusseldorp (NL), who, for his part, drove to victory on Easter Monday after setting the fastest race lap. Another one-two for the duo was prevented after von Vanthoor mad a jump start and was subsequently awarded a drive-through-penalty and only finished eleventh after fighting back through the field. After two of 19 races Dusseldorp leads the championship with 19 points ahead of Vanthoor with 13. Rafael Suzuki (BR) of Team Performance Racing also made an excellent “powered by Volkswagen” start to the season after finishing fourth in the opening race and third in the second race and is equal third in the championship.

British Formula 3 Championship. Victorious debut for Volkswagen in the British Formula 3 Championship. Two victories for Volkswagen driver Daniel Ricciardo in the British Formula 3 Championship: The Australian won both the championship races at Oulton Park with Volkswagen Power. The driver of Volkswagen partner team Carlin Motorsport won from Nick Tandy (GB, Mygale-Mercedes) and Walter Grubmuller (MC, Dallara-Mercedes) who finished second and third respectively in the first of the two races on Easter Monday. Ricciardo also beat the same two drivers, but in reverse order, in the second race of the day. The Volkswagen partner team T-Sport powered by Volkswagen also had a successful start to the season: Adriano Buzaid (BR) finished sixth in race one, in the second race he collected more points in seventh. Also adding to Volkswagen’s excellent points haul was Max Chilton (GB, Carlin Motorsport) who produced another highlight to finish fourth in the second race.

ADAC Formula Masters Germany. Favourites win at ADAC Formula Masters season opener at Oschersleben. Daniel Abt (Kempten) and Klaus Bachler (A) justified their positions as favourites after wins in the first two races of the season at the ADAC Formula Masters opener at Oschersleben. Daniel Abt planted his Formula ADAC powered by Volkswagen twice on pole position, won the first race from his front row slot and was second in race two. This gives the young driver from Kempten a clear lead. Klaus Bachler finished fourth in the race on Easter Sunday before tasting victory on Easter Monday. In race one the remaining podium positions went to Adrian Campfield (GB) and Rene Binder (A) in second and third, in race two Kevin Friesacher (A) was third behind the race one winner.

Volkswagen Racing Cup England. Taylor and Dziurzynski win at Oulton Park. The wins at the opening round of the British Volkswagen Racing Cup went to Paul Taylor and Didge Dziurzynski, who both race a Volkswagen Golf. Paul Taylor was the dominating man in the first of the two races at Oulton Park on Easter Monday. The 2006 champion was followed across the line by a respectable ten seconds by last year’s title holder Joe Fulbrook in a Volkswagen Bora. Michael Kurton in a Scirocco GT claimed third place. Race two was much harder fought: Didge Dziurzynski won by little more than one-tenth-of-a-second from Joe Fulbrook, who was again second. Third place went to Peter Felix in another Volkswagen Golf.

ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup. Young talents work on fine-tuning for 2009 Polo-Cup season. The 25 young talents competing in the “touring car school” prepared themselves for the 2009 season during a two-day introductory training course at Oschersleben for the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup, which opens with DTM between 15 and 17 May at Hockenheim. On the training programme: Extensive testing, start practice, introduction to data analysis, technique training, learning about tyres and also a course for working professionally with the media.

Με το 15ο ράλι Φίλιππος, συνεχίστηκε το πανελλήνιο πρωτάθλημα ράλι το οποίο ολοκληρώθηκε πριν από λίγο στη Βέροια. Περισσότερα από 60 πληρώματα εκκίνησαν τον 3ο γύρο του θεσμού αλλά 41 κατάφεραν να ανέβουν τη ράμπα του τερματισμού. Με σύμμαχο τον καιρό οι αγωνιζόμενοι έδωσαν τον καλύτερό τους εαυτό και οι εκατοντάδες θεατές απόλαυσαν τα «περάσματα» στις έξι ασφάλτινες ειδικές διαδρομές που ξεκίνησαν στις 9 το πρωί και ολοκληρώθηκαν στις 5:30 το απόγευμα.

Σε κάθε περίπτωση οι κόντρες ήταν πολύ δυνατές και μετά από 90 αγωνιστικά χιλιόμετρα την 1η θέση κατέκτησε ο Παπαχριστόπουλος με VW Golf Kit Car.  Ακολούθησαν οι Κύρκος Junior και Άκης Καλούδης με Mitsubishi EVO. Στον αγώνα που ήταν και ο πρώτος ασφάλτινος του πρωταθλήματος συμμετείχαν και οι Καραμήτρος – Πρίντεζης με Mitsubishi EVO 9 οι οποίοι ολοκλήρωσαν τον αγώνα στην 11η θέση της γενικής κατάταξης και στην 4η της κατηγορίας «Ν». «Σκοπός μας ήταν να τερματίσουμε τον αγώνα, να συλλέξουμε πληροφορίες και να εξελίξουμε το αγωνιστικό μας αυτοκίνητο. Στο ράλι Κένταυρος ο στόχος μας θα είναι τουλάχιστον η 5άδα», δήλωσε αμέσως μετά την ολοκλήρωση του ράλι Φίλιππος ο Δημήτρης Καραμήτρος. Ο επόμενος ασφάλτινος πρωταθληματικός αγώνας (ράλι Κένταυρος) θα διεξαχθεί στις 23-24 στην περιοχή του Πηλίου.

“Πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 13 Απριλίου στα εντευκτήρια της ΕΛΠΑ σε ιδιαίτερα καλό κλίμα συνάντηση μεταξύ του ΔΣ της ΕΛΠΑ και εκπροσώπων 47 λεσχών αυτοκινήτου από κάθε σημείο της Ελλάδας, με αντικείμενο την Ομοσπονδία Μηχανοκίνητου Αθλητισμού Ελλάδος.

Σε συνέχεια της πρώτης σχετικής συζήτησης, που είχε γίνει πριν από περίπου δύο μήνες, όπου και αποφασίστηκε η σύσταση της Ομοσπονδίας, η χθεσινή ατζέντα εστίασε στον τρόπο υλοποίησης του σχεδίου.

Με δεδομένο το γεγονός ότι η Ομοσπονδία άρα και οι Λέσχες Αυτοκινήτου θα πρέπει να είναι σύννομες με ό,τι προβλέπεται από το υπουργείο Αθλητισμού και κατόπιν πρότασης του γ.γ. Αθλητισμού, κ. Σταύρου Δουβή, θα πρέπει να κατατεθούν ορισμένες τροπολογίες ώστε να εξαλειφθούν οι διαφορές που υπάρχουν μεταξύ του αθλητικού Νόμου και των άρθρων που διέπουν το μηχανοκίνητο αθλητισμό.

Για το σκοπό αυτόν και ειδικά για την επεξεργασία του καταστατικού της Ομοσπονδίας συστάθηκε, μετά από πρόταση του προέδρου της ΕΛΠΑ, κ. Βασίλη Δεσποτόπουλου, η οποία έγινε ομόφωνα αποδεκτή, «Ομάδα Εργασίας» που περιλαμβάνει τις πλέον ενεργές λέσχες, ώστε να τροποποιήσει όποια άρθρα απαιτείται, για να περάσει ο μηχανοκίνητος αθλητισμός υπό τη σκέπη του υπουργείου Αθλητισμού.

Την ομάδα, τα μέλη της οποίας φαίνονται παρακάτω, απαρτίζουν εκπρόσωποι λεσχών, εκπρόσωποι των Οδηγών Αγώνων, καθώς και μέλη των ΔΣ της ΕΛΠΑ και της ΕΘΕΑ.
