Λίγες μόλις ημέρες μετά τη λήξη και της 55ης εκδοχής του Ράλλυ Ακρόπολις, και η
ΕΛΠΑ βάζει τα θεμέλια για την επόμενη ημέρα του ελληνικού γύρου του WRC.
Στόχος; Η επιλογή νέας Έδρας, ικανής να φιλοξενήσει τον Αγώνα για τα επόμενα
τουλάχιστον τρία χρόνια.

Συγκεκριμένα, η Οργανωτική Επιτροπή του 56ου Ράλλυ Ακρόπολις, υπό την
προεδρία του κ. Βασίλη Δεσποτόπουλου, κατέθεσε ήδη πρόταση μεταφοράς της
Έδρας του Αγώνα σε πέντε υποψήφιους Δήμους, οι οποίοι πληρούν τις
προδιαγραφές που απαιτείται να έχει ένας αγώνας του Παγκόσμιου
Πρωταθλήματος Ράλλυ.

Πρόκειται για τους Δήμους Ιτέας, Καμένων Βούρλων, Λαμίας, Λουτρακίου και
Χαλκιδέων, οι οποίοι, πέραν της γεωγραφικής τους θέσης -που εξασφαλίζει τη
χάραξη της διαδρομής του Αγώνα-, καλούνται να συνεργαστούν με την ΕΛΠΑ σε
νευραλγικούς τομείς, όπως είναι η διάθεση χώρων για το Αρχηγείο του Αγώνα,
το γραφείο Τύπου και το Service Park, η συνεννόηση με τους κατά τόπους
φορείς, καθώς και με τις ξενοδοχειακές μονάδες της εκάστοτε περιοχής, με στόχο
την επίτευξη της καλύτερης δυνατής εξυπηρέτησης όλων όσοι με οποιονδήποτε
τρόπο εμπλέκονται στον Αγώνα αυτόν (συμμετέχοντες, οργάνωση, θεατές).
Η απόφαση σχετικά με τη νέα Έδρα θα ανακοινωθεί το Σεπτέμβριο του 2008.

A1GP World Cup of Motorsport enters a new era as the 2008/09 season approaches, moving to the forefront of technology by becoming one of the first international racing series to offer its World Feed TV Broadcast in High Definition (HD).

A1GP is carried by more than 45 broadcast licensees worldwide, reaching nearly 180 countries and territories around the globe. They will all now be given the option to receive A1GPs host broadcast in HD, while broadcasters without HD channels will still be able to receive the Standard Definition feed.

The World Feed is generated in a state of the art HD Outside Broadcast facility that is transported around the globe to each race event to ensure the series continues to provide top quality television, regardless of its location. From there, pictures from 60 cameras situated around the track, in the pits and on the A1GP cars can be selected for broadcast.

The highly experienced crew consists of 130 production staff and engineers, who are all specialists in their fields. The international broadcast team is dedicated to capturing the essence of A1GP’s racing action, along with all the vibrant characters in the paddock and the colour of each competing nation.

As well as offering pictures in HD, there are a number of exciting new developments set to enhance A1GP’s TV broadcast next season. A1GP Productions have been working closely with the designers of the new A1GP Powered by Ferrari car since its inception to integrate new and exciting On Board Camera positions. There will also be further telemetry available from the car, alongside more advanced TV graphics to give viewers a greater insight into the efforts of the driver inside the cockpit.

Master tactics paid dividends for BP Ford World Rally Team as it claimed a 1-2 finish on a thrilling Rally of Turkey today.  Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen claimed their second win of the FIA World Rally Championship season in a Ford Focus RS World Rally Car to move back into the lead of the drivers standings by three points.  Team-mates Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila were just 7.9sec behind in another Focus RS as Ford extended its lead in the manufacturers’ series to nine points.

The maximum points haul enabled Ford to create rallying history by scoring points on 100 consecutive rallies, a feat never achieved since the WRC was launched in 1973.

News from our Rivals

Sébastien Loeb (Citroen) took third but slipped to second in the drivers’ standings with team-mate Dani Sordo claiming fourth.  Sordo moved ahead of Stobart driver Henning Solberg (Ford) on the opening stage and the gap between the pair was just 8.1sec at the finish.  Petter Solberg (Subaru) rounded off the top six ahead of Stobart driver Matthew Wilson (Ford).  Ninth and 10th for Munchi’s drivers Federico Villagra and Barry Clark (both Ford) was enough for the final manufacturers’ points.

Next round

The championship pauses for a summer break and returns with Rally Finland, one of the year’s classic events, on 31 July - 3 August.  The gravel rally is based in Jyväskylä.

Στην Μάλτα πραγματοποιήθηκε το Σαββατοκύριακο 7-8 Ιουνίου ο 3ος γύρος του παγκοσμίου πρωταθλήματος σκαφών PowerBoat P1. Με χιλιάδες θεατές να βρίσκονται κατά μήκος της παραλίας, όπου ήταν προγραμματισμένος να διεξαχθεί ο διπλός αγώνας, τα πληρώματα έδειχναν έτοιμα για τη «μάχη». Μεταξύ αυτών και ο Ανδρέας Χαλκιόπουλος που συμμετέχει για δεύτερη χρονιά στο συγκεκριμένο πρωτάθλημα με την κινέζικη ομάδα Ocean Dragon Racing.
 
 Ο Έλληνας πρωταθλητής αν και έχει ξεκινήσει πολύ δυναμικά το πρωτάθλημα, δεν κατάφερε να συνεχίσει με αυτό τον τρόπο έπειτα από την ατυχία που αντιμετώπισε, όταν ο ένας εκ των δύο κινητήρων του σκάφους «έσπασε» κατά τη διάρκεια των δοκιμών. Το αποτέλεσμα ήταν να μη μπορέσει να συμμετέχει τόσο στον πρώτο όσο και στον δεύτερο αγώνα και έτσι να λήξει άδοξα η 3η φετινή ναυμαχία για τον ίδιο και την ομάδα του.

Η συνέχεια του πρωταθλήματος θα δοθεί στην Τυνησία στις 11-13 Ιουλίου.

«Δυστυχώς τα προβλήματα δεν έλειψαν και από τον 3ο γύρο. Ήμασταν έτοιμοι για να «παλέψουμε» με τα χρονόμετρα και τους αντιπάλους μας, όμως ένας σπασμένος κινητήρας κατά τη διάρκεια των δοκιμών, μας έθεσε εκτός αγώνα. Πλέον το μυαλό μας βρίσκεται στην Τυνησία όπου και θα πάμε τον Ιούλιο για τον 4ο γύρο».
